One things for sure...

I won't be looking here for the hottest signed and unsigned female artist.

The Intro...

I recently took the time out to Google females in hip hop, one of the first things that popped up was:
this article discusses the death of females in hip hop. Do I agree? To a certain extent. I do think music is dominated by males, especially hip hop.
"It’s rare to come across a female emcee that is lyrically superior and who will challenge herself to deliver superb hits that touch on a variety of subjects that will showcase her skills as a supreme wordsmith- not a supreme sex lyricists. But unfortunately that’s the type of female rapper industry heads are pushing out."
That’s a direct quote, that’s what prompted this blog; because as a freelance journalist I am able to write about whatever I choose, and I come across females constantly who embody that statement. I guess the rarity more so pertains to the sign artist, rather than the unsigned which I respect. Whether I agree or not I think the article was excellently written and it did spark my need to spotlight some of hip hop’s finest.
Welcome to the Male’s Perspective on Females in Hip Hop… I am your host J. Enjoy.
